Rosé Côtes de Provence AOC

Domaine Sainte Béatrice
Provence, France

Rosé wines are produced all over the world, from California to Sicily, but a very special area in the south of France reigns supreme. Provence. It is here where our Vinum Masters team of sommeliers set out to look for our Vinum Masters rosé wine.

Wines from the Côtes de Provence are recognised globally for their trademark pale pink colour. In the beautiful countryside reaching from St. Tropez to Nice, no less than 13 different grape varieties are permitted, with the most popular being Grenache in Provence and Cinsault in the Var.

Located in the heart of the Var, Domaine Sainte Béatrice belongs to Valerie Rousselle, the owner of the neighbouring Cru Classé: Roubine. Here she works together with her family to create beautiful, local wines that are truly representative of their terroir.

In our Vinum Masters Côtes de Provence, a classic blend of sun-worshipping varieties, the Cinsault and Grenache, combine to create a wine with a classic Provence colour and character. Pale salmon-pink hue with dried fruits, almonds, raisins and pistachio aromas with a distinct minerality leading to delicate flavours of currants and wild strawberries on the palate.

As soon as the grapes are harvested, the Cinsault and Grenache undergo cold maceration for a few hours to ensure maximum aromatic intensity in the final wine. The grapes are then gently pressed with the best juices being selected. Fermentation is temperature-controlled and the wine will be aged on the fine lees until bottling, to give smoother texture and body.

Some winemakers in the region like to age their wines in oak barrels. Valerie and the family choose to focus on the bright fresh fruit and floral characteristics of the wine, so they use stainless steel for the winemaking process to protect these primary aromas and flavours.

Domaine Sainte Béatrice itself is unique and is proud to produce ambitious, elegant, and aromatic wines. It’s also, remarkably, home to a famous museum dedicated to viticulture in the region, and houses a collection of rare objects related to wine! A little-known fact is that Provence doesn’t only make its celebrated rosé – around 15% is red wine and 5% is white!

Our Vinum Masters Côtes de Provence could be paired with fresh salads perhaps with feta cheese and summer fruits, or with grilled shrimps or langoustines.
